The Insight Difference: Windows

At Insight Homes, we are focused on the Science of Comfort and building energy efficient homes. Many builders offer energy efficient or Low-E Windows (usually at an upgrade), but we know that all Low-E windows are not made equally. We decided to put our windows to the test by shining a sun lamp through four different types of windows and measuring heat transference in BTU (British Thermal Units) per hour. Watch below:

 The Test

  • Standard window with clear glass: 280 BTU/hour
  • Builder upgrade Low-E window: 257 BTU/hour – A little bit better.
  • Blackout blinds over upgrade Low- E window: 18 BTU/hour – Pretty good, but who wants to sit in the dark?
  • Insight Homes Low-E Window: 6 BTU/hour – We have a winner!

Why Do You Care?

Our Low- E windows cut 93% of heat transference, stopping the heat from pouring in during the summer and stopping the heat from leaving your home in the winter. Imagine the money you will save on energy bills when your system doesn’t have to work so hard to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.

Our Low-E windows cut down on wear and tear of HVAC system, and UV coating on the windows eliminates the fading of your carpets and upholstery. The best part? Our Low-E windows comestandardin every house.
